ProScan Help - Performing a Dyno Pull

Performing a Dyno Pull

  1. Read the Tips for Best Dyno Results.
  2. If one does not already exist, create a Vehicle Profile for the vehicle you are about to dyno.
  3. Make certain that the profile settings are correct and have not changed since the profile was last updated.
  4. Establish a connection with a vehicle.
  5. Select the Dynamometer tool from the tool selection combobox.
  6. Under the Setup group, specify the From RPM and To RPM values as appropriate for the vehicle. You must begin accelerating before the From RPM value and accelerate beyond the To RPM for the Dyno tool to work properly. If you have an automatic, you will need to adjust the RPM range appropriately so that the engine RPMs accelerate smoothly throughout the specified range without shifting.
  7. With the engine RPMs lower than the From RPM setting, position the vehicle on a straight and level road and put the vehicle in the desired gear. Typically, automatics should use 2nd and manuals should use 3rd. Also, the drive ratio setting in the vehicle's profile must match the gear being used.
  8. When in the appropriate gear and with engine RPMs lower than the From RPM setting, click the Begin Dyno Pull button.
  9. When ready, begin to accelerate as quickly and smoothly as possible. ProScan will begin logging data once you pass the From RPM setting and will continue until you pass the To RPM setting. Once the engine RPMs pass the To RPM value, ProScan will calculate and display the horsepower and torque curves.
  10. If you are happy with the results, save the data to file for future viewing.
